thanks to the show with Anthony Bourdain, I have pasted the links for Sean Penns HRO organization to my Facebook. I also donated money and will continue to donate to his organization. God Bless You Sean Penn, and God Help and Bless the people of Haiti!
I promise to spread the word.
We need a JP/HRO for facebook page...so we can show the link easier than the way I did it. thanks

What you wrote is so true! We have notice the same things since we live in Haiti. People in Haiti need jobs, not just relief.

Tom & Frank,
Those of us who are forever linked to the Haitian people are heartbroken as tragedy strikes them yet again. There are so many "if only's" that come to mind as I drink my pure bottled water, only due to taste preference, not because my tap water isn't safe. I appreciate every public word that brings attention to the desperate needs of the beautiful people of Haiti, and I am thankful to you for putting it out there. I am a stickler for fact though, and so must add that the CDC has not definitively linked this cholera strain to any other. They have stated only that they are similar and that more testing is needed to determine the source. They also predict that cholera will be present for up to several years, not 30. This, of course, being if the rest of the world continues to place a priority on it. That means we need people like you to continue your excellent writings so that no one will forget this little country! Thank you!

Frank,

My apologies and thank you for what you are doing for the Haitian people. I've made corrections - can you let me know if that's acceptable?

Normally I remember to do that the only excuse I can offer is that it was getting very late last night. :-)

Hi Tom,
This post was cut and paste from my blog without any reference...I support people sharing my experiences and posts, but I do not support people taking my work and using it as their own. Please either take the post down, or refer at the beginning of the post that it came from my blog.

Thank you,

Thanks for posting this on your site. I am a longtime supporter of Senator Frist. Even though he chose to retire from politics, those of us who have followed his career, know that for many years he has made medical missionary trips to Africa, to Bangledesh, to New Orleans, and to Haiti. He does so without any publicity, and saves lives while performing surgery and treating people who otherwise would not have access to health care. He is an amazing individual and I am constantly saddened that America can't find a way to utilize his talents and dedication.

I agree that they need help, and I have actively helped too. I have been to Haiti, been involved with a mission, and adopted from Haiti. My heart is with the children and country of Haiti. However, one of the biggest problems that Haiti has is Haiti itself -- its orphans are a big industry. They (orphans) bring in missions, supplies, tons of money from paperwork, give people jobs, missions hire locals, start schools, and feeding programs, reach out to the communities around, bring modern equiptment, restore housing, teach skills, etc. In other words, Haiti doesn't want to loose one of its biggest supports for its country - orphans. Things have to change internally before there will be lasting results where Haiti will actually start to become independent of outside help. I know now that the disasters have changed much of what I am saying for now, they definetly need outside help to get on their feet, but in the long run somehow Haitian thinking and priorities need to change, and they need to consider their children their future, and not a money making industry.

[...] The kids in Haiti have experienced way more loss than any kid should ever have to experience. It’s something that we adults can’t “gloss over” and need to be prepared to deal with as we help in Haiti. For more thoughts on that idea, read “They All Have a Story.” [...]
